Re: New Tunic

Oh yeeeaaah that’s nice. Well done! Looks beautifully finished and super practical! I’d be very interested to see what you do with trying to give it a light-brown coloration, if you decide to go that route. I’ve had garbage luck trying to get that color on linen, but I admit that I’ve only ever used...

Re: New Projects in the Works

Thanks folks! I’m excited about this one for sure! The tooling is definitely being kept to a relative minimum, but I do want to do something on the straps, I just haven’t decided what yet. Nothing too busy, but like... SOMETHING. I don’t know  I also re-cut the bottom end piece that you see her...

Re: New Projects in the Works

Bit of progress on the quiver! Since the star motif is kind of omnipresent across my kit I just kind of leaned into it here, but I deliberately added 7 of them to match the rhyme: "Tall ships and tall kings Three times three, What brought they from the foundered land Over the flowing sea? Seven...

Re: MERF Random Adventure Pictures

yep, it's still cold, there's snow on the ground  That is a positively GORGEOUS setting! Feels quite a bit like the Shire! So uh... do cleaning adventures count? Because this definitely started off as cleaning the office, and ended up with me doing a full kit test! I still haven’t ac...

Re: Reading Beowulf

Beowulf is my absolute passion. Which translation are you working from? I performed for the first time last night, a 30 minute recitation solely from memory (in modern English). Seeing the rapt faces of the audience in the firelight was wonderful. There is also a copy of Benjamin Bagbys performance...

Re: ME Rangers on Youtube

Yeah, he approached me specifically about his channel a while back asking for some feedback, and I have to admit that I was really impressed right off the bat. Looks like he has really continued creating some great content!

Life Imitating Art, Imitating Life, Imitating... and So Forth...

Okay, so funny thing I found the other day. Remember back a few years ago when the Valiant Armory “Bristol” arming sword was all the rage around the forums? Greg had one, I had one, and at least one or two other regulars carried one as well (heck, I’ve still got mine, and it’s still my primary Range...

Re: Finished Snapsack

Beautiful work! It’s just so clean! I really like the idea of being able to wear it on either the quiver strap or a dedicated strap of its own. I may have to see if I can modify the one Elleth made me a while back to work in a similar way (shouldn’t be too hard, honestly). ...And yes I am left hande...

Hah! That “In The Reads” seller is actually an acquaintance of mine from here in CO! I had no idea she had done maps like these.

Re: Logging in Twice?

I think it's a bug with the older versions of browsers, It does it on my laptop that hasn't been updated in a while, but doesn't on my new PC or my work computer, they have a recent install of Firefox This isn't the only site I've noticed it on over the last few weeks, I've found three websites so ...

Re: New Projects in the Works

So a while back, in preparation for the new quiver build I purchased three BEAUTIFUL hand-made buckles from a metalworker in Canada, and they just arrived today! I’m very excited! They have an aesthetic that feels very in keeping with the various Dúnedain cultural motifs we have established around h...

Logging in Twice?

Has anyone else noticed that the forum seems to be making them log in twice before it ACTUALLY logs them in? Or is it just me?

Re: Matches

I will say though, from experience, that wax-coating match heads can make striking VERY difficult, especially in the outdoors, under non-ideal circumstances. You’ve REALLLLLY go to make sure that all the wax is off before trying to strike them.

Re: Matches

What a great idea! I love how the stamp came out! I also like to carry modern matches with my kit, if only as a last resort, as you say, and occasionally to light a pipe as well, so something like this seems like it would be a great way to help keep them a little more authentic feeling than a modern...
