Hi All,
I've just recently joined the forum - had been lurking for a while and enjoying the amazing discussions and materials available on here, but finally decided to take the plunge and register. I'm a 39 year old aspiring ranger from California, and have been collecting random pieces of kit over the past year or so, and I hope I can one day put together a full kit, time permitting! Excited to join the community and take part in these fascinating conversations. Thanks for having me!

Bay Area! Lots of forests and parks around here, and some of them would absolutely make you feel like you're wandering around Middle Earth.. if it weren't for the overcrowded trails pretty much everywhere you go

There's a great group up in the Chico area you might want to connect with to further help you build your kit and network with other like-minded individuals...forum member "Druin" leads them if you'd like to reach out. I myself moved to the midwest from Vacaville about 11 years ago, so I definitely know what you mean when you say overcrowded trails. All the best; looking forward to seeing what you're putting together as you're able!
